Giovanni Jano, better known as JAEL, is a Moluccan recording artist, producer, DJ and vocalist from The Netherlands. Growing up in a musical household, surrounded by Moluccan Folk and Gospel, Soul, Funk and Japanese Funk, JAEL’s upbringing plays a huge part in his distinctly energetic performance style. Through a vibrant combination of genres, highly skilled live performance and the incorporation of his own productions, JAEL is able to put on a show unlike others.

At his performances, JAEL draws from his several skills as an artist including DJing, singing and live instrumentalism. For years, JAEL has been a member of LA-based label and community Soulection. Soulection has been a cornerstone of creativity for innovative musicians and a respected institution to be part of as an artist.

With international praise in regards to both his capacities as a DJ and live performing musician, JAEL has become increasingly popular on global stages. 2022 saw JAEL perform at key events such as Boiler Room Festival (AMS), the Brooklyn Mirage (NYC), O2 Brixton (LDN) and on tour in the USA, South-Africa, Asia and Australia and New Zealand. Aside from that, JAEL kicked off his monthly radio show CAROUSEL JAEL on the influential Rinse FM in London, which will continue into 2023.

In 2021, JAEL released his debut album Half As Much, drawing inspiration from a broad musical spectrum and making use of his unique and extensive skill set as an artist. He also featured on Juls - Close To Me together with Wizkid & Agent Sasco. JAEL is currently working on his second album, which is due to be released at the end of 2024 / beginning of 2025. His new music will be brought into a live setting with a bigger liveshow, which he’s aiming to tour globally with.
